Sovereign Prenatal + Self Care

In my experience the “prenatal care” most women receive isn’t real care at all its just clinical assessments and numbers/checklists. TRUE prenatal care is the stuff you do for yourself everyday. The Village Prenatals and One on One Visits are open to all women seeking love and support regardless of how or where or with whom they choose to give birth.

The Village Prenatals + Women’s Circles are on the 1st Sunday of the month at 1 pm is a fun celebration of womanhood with sisters of all walks of life but especially the crunchy variety and includes meal, followed by an exploration of a prenatal topic like (nutrition, placenta birth, videos, birth choices, etc) , woman-centered ceremonies to honor the women carrying life, and then learning from one another through hands on care like belly massage, palpation, measuring, listening to baby, bp, pulse, etc. They are donation based with the recommended donation of $20-40 (made to @samhypes on Venmo - food provided :)) (if you’d like to make something or bring food to share you’re welcome to, but no pressure) You DO NOT have to be currently pregnant to attend, doulas, birth workers, maidens, mothers, sisters, elders, herbalists, medicine women, and birth curious welcome.

Support + Offerings

I offer a unique approach and what I feel is a new, yet old way of showing up in the role as a sacred birth sister and medicine woman. I am way beyond the doula role and NOT a midwife. I am a sister, neighbor, kindred soul. I tend to women with the guidance and support from other wise women and mentors. My ultimate vision is a circle of women with knowledge of birth to love and support each other as they have since the beginning of time. I offer mostly, spiritual guidance, witnessing, and support in discovering your own power. But can also use hands on skills, clinical assessments, and referrals when needed or desired.

I believe that pregnancy and birth is sacred and is meant to be supported in a sacred way.

Medicine Woman Prayer

I will not rescue you, for you are not powerless.
I will not fix you, for you are not broken.
I will not heal you, for I see you in your wholeness.
I will walk with you through the darkness as you remember your light.

Walking together on this journey includes:

Prenatal Care - monthly in home visits and monthly village prenatals with time to explore what’s coming up in pregnancy, palpation, measuring, listening to baby, and other tools/assessments as desired.

Spiritual Guidance- continuous support in your pregnancy around connecting to baby and your own soul including rituals and ceremonies that resonate with your spiritual beliefs.

Birth and Labor Support- witnessing, supporting, and honoring this rite of passage in the ways you want with a grounded presence, tending with honesty, and trust in your body. (I am there to assist you and do not consider myself a “medical provider”. I do not provide “medical things” such as administering pharmaceuticals, injections, oxygen, IV, or suturing - if you decide medical assistance is desired or needed you may need to transfer)

Postpartum Care- 6+ weeks of on going support, nourishment, and love from myself and the women in our community.

$2,700 - $3,400 sliding scale

(Depending on distance. I do travel, email birthingthenewearth@gmail.com to ask about travel brith attendance)

Additional Postpartum Care

Even if I didn’t walk with you on the birth journey, you can still have postpartum support. Postpartum care is a universal need. I offer postpartum care for $40 an hour and typically spend an hour or two at your home 2-3 times a week taking care of household chores, making warm nourishing meals, and caring for YOU. I work with a community of postpartum doulas who support me in providing on-going care for you in this tender and transformative time.

1 hr twice a week |  $80

1hr three times a week | $120

2 hrs twice a week | $160

2 hrs three times a week | $240

Investing in Birth + Postpartum Support is 100% Worth It.

Birth and the postpartum period are pivotal phases in a woman's life, shaping not only the mother's well-being but also the babies future. It is crucial to recognize the immense value and impact of investing in comprehensive birth and postpartum support. Investing in birth and postpartum support promotes maternal and the entire family’s well-being. Birth is a transformative and potentially challenging experience that requires physical, emotional, and mental endurance. When mothers receive adequate care and support, they are more likely to recover faster from childbirth, bond effectively with their infants, and experience birth/postpartum as a sacred initiation.

Prioritizing maternal well-being not only enhances the quality of life for individual mothers and equips families with the resources to thrive, but also sets the stage for the well-being and nurturance of future generations.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about my offerings.

Do you attend hospital births?

I do not attend hospital births, unless medically necessary or if transfer is needed. My goal is not to be dogmatic about home or hospital but instead support women in making the right choices for themselves. Sometimes that means going to the hospital.

Will you transfer with me?

Yes I will transfer with you if medical assistance is needed. If you do choose to go to the hospital from a planned home birth it would probably be because you actually want or need something there.

What about breastfeeding support?

I provide basic breast-feeding support and talk with women about their plans in the prenatal time, as well as offer suggestions and referrals to additional support if desired.

Samantha was my Godsend. I had the honor of having her as my doula for my home water birth. I met her a couple months before my due date and I immediately knew she was special and we connected right away. From the beginning she was knowledgeable, attentive to my needs and gave me confidence in myself and in us as a team. She went above and beyond every step of the way. She was there with me in early labor and gave me the assurance I needed to feel confident and ready. During active labor she knew just exactly what to do to comfort me and relieve my pain (hip squeezes for the win!) and had amazing stamina the whole time through. She was a positive force and reassured me that I was doing well even when I didn't think I was and that's exactly what I needed. The saying goes "I couldn't have done it without you.". Well I would have had to if she hadn't been there but I don't even want to think about how much harder it would have been without her. I didn't have a doula for my first birth and this was my second. I can tell you the difference is exponential! She has also been there for me postpartum to help me with the same dedication and enthusiasm. Anyone would be beyond blessed to have her at their birth and I feel absolutely fortunate I found her!
